Summary, etc Mathieu n'est pas passionné par les livres à première vue, mais lorsque son enseignant le surprend à dormir dans le cours de français, il l'invite à aller continuer sa sieste à la bibliothèque. Mathieu y rencontre le bibliothécaire Viateur Leclerc, qui lui offre vingt dollars de l'heure, s'il accepte d'élaguer des livres le week-end. Le samedi suivant, le garçon commence le travail, mais M. Leclerc ne revient pas à midi, comme convenu. Le temps passe, Mathieu est pris au piège et menacé par la faim et la soif. En cherchant à s'échapper, il fait des découvertes étonnantes. Il se pourrait que les finissants de 1909 n'aient jamais vraiment quitté l'école. [SDM]

Summary, etc Un petit roman d'horreur dans lequel règne une ambiance inquiétante. Pendant que Mathieu travaille au milieu des vieux bouquins, nous découvrons une foule d'informations inusitées tirées de l'histoire, qui montre que les livres appartenant au passé donnent parfois un peu le frisson. Les illustrations, en noir et blanc, montrent ce qu'il y a dans les vieux volumes que le garçon découvre, ce qui donne un cachet ancien à ce roman jeunesse. L'aspect horrifique tient essentiellement à la séquestration, mais un jeune lecteur devrait y trouver davantage un bon suspense que de véritables frayeurs. [SDM]
